A groundhog’s hilarious reaction to a man working outside has gone viral, leaving viewers in stitches! TikTok user Rusty_Buckeye was outside, soaking in the fresh air while doing some yard work, when he heard an unusual noise above him. As he went about his task of picking up sticks, Rusty heard a strange rustling noise from above. 

At first, he thought it might be a bird or maybe even a squirrel, the usual wildlife critters. What he didn’t expect was a groundhog. In the middle of the branches was a groundhog standing upright and looking right back at him. Critters like groundhogs are known for living underground. No one would’ve expected to see one in a tree, which made the scene both strange and downright hilarious. 

He even commented, “I didn’t know groundhogs could climb trees.” 

What happened next sent Rusty and online viewers into fits of laughter. The moment the groundhog realized it had been spotted, it froze completely as if thinking, "If I don’t move, you can’t see me." 

Rusty commented, “Now it thinks I can’t see him,” as he panned the camera back to the groundhog who was completely still and motionless. The chubby critter’s attempt to play invisible only added to the absurdity of the situation.

Rusty’s video of the groundhog using his "stealth" strategy had viewers in stitches with all sorts of comments and jokes. “He blended into the tree trunk. You know you can't see him,” one user joked.

Whether it’s a squirrel or a bird, or in this case, a mischievous groundhog in a tree, you never know what surprises the great outdoors has in store.
