Tears Flow as Young Man Delivers Emotional Speech at Sister’s Wedding
Who says wedding speeches should be left to the adults? Grab a tissue and be prepared for tears to flow as a young man delivers an emotional speech at his big sister’s wedding. Toasts are often a way to share how special the bride or groom is in the lives of loved ones. Speeches usually contain a little humor, and some fun commentary, and sometimes they are incredibly heartfelt.
No one expected 12-year-old Benji to cause tears. I’m sure everyone, including the bride and big sister Cindy Villanueva, expected a speech about the years of sibling rivalry. But what happens next brought tears to every eye in the room.
The little guy was nervous as he held the microphone and looked at his speech. He started his speech by stating he noticed a change at home ever since his big sis moved out. “Ever since Cindy moved out, I noticed a huge change. Now, when I wake up, there is no one awake. I used to talk to Cindy every morning even if she was working,” he said.
Benji couldn’t help but share how special their mornings were. “She would still take the time to talk to me. Then, when I could come back from school, she would ask me, ‘How was school?’”
Now, this is where the speech melts hearts and fills your eyes with sweet tears; Benji said, “I told her everything because she was like a best friend to me.” Even the bride and the groom began wiping the tears from their eyes. Benji became emotional, too, as his voice shook; he continued, “She always understood me and gave advice on what to do in school. Me and Cindy used to make cookies all the time, and ever since she moved out I can’t make cookies without her being there.”
But then Benji shares the real gift he’s received now that his sister is married. He gets to go to Cindy and Jose’s house to make cookies together. Here, he not only continued to share a special bond with with his big sister, but he also found a new big brother in Jose. Their house now feels like home to Benji and he’s thankful his big sis found such a great guy.
What a beautiful message! Benji may be just a preteen, but he already knows how precious family is. We hope you enjoyed this sweet, beautiful moment.
Ephesians 4:2: "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
