Celtic Woman's Beautiful Rendition of 'Shenandoah'

Listen to this beautiful rendition of the song ‘Shenandoah’ from Celtic Woman.

‘Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you,

Away, you rolling river

Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you,

Away, I’m bound away, across the wide Missouri.’

What an incredible performance of this lovely folk song! The woman singing in this Celtic Woman production is Megan Walsh, and her voice is just stunning! She sounds so wonderful singing the lyrics of the song ‘Shenandoah,’ and the Irish whistle that accompanies her adds so much beauty to the performance as well.

“Absolutely love this song and that smile she does right at the beginning just melted my heart,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “She is absolutely beautiful, her voice is so soothing and relaxing, and this is my all time favorite song by Celtic women.”

“Celtic Woman's music clearly touches people's hearts deeply, as seen in the tear-filled eyes of the audience. And I’m pretty sure this is also true for many YouTube viewers who are shedding a tear, when listening to such a moment of pure musical beauty...and I admit, myself included!” writes another person online.

Megan joined Celtic Woman in 2018, and before that, she frequently performed with Emmet Cahill of Celtic Thunder as well as many other artists. When she joined Celtic Woman in July 2018 as the newest principal member, she replaced Susan McFadden, who had taken leave to start a family. Then in 2023, Megan left Celtic Woman to further pursue her solo career.

As for the song ‘Shenandoah,’ the origins of this recognizable folk tune are not so easily deciphered, but the song probably did not originate later than the Civil War. By the end of the 19th century, the song had achieved widespread popularity.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to this rendition of ‘Shenandoah’ from Celtic Woman today!
