Carol Burnett Goes to Hysterical Lengths to Conceal Her Latest Buy in Sketch

Carol Burnett goes to hysterical lengths to conceal her latest purchase in another classic sketch. She did not want her husband to know what she had just bought and did everything she could to hide it from him. Watch the video to see how she concealed the odd item from her better half.

The Carol Burnett Show is one of television's most memorable, iconic shows. Even though it has been off the air for decades, the program’s beloved and rib-tickling sketches are still causing people to double over in laughter. It’s safe to say that the show and its endless string of deliriously funny skits will not soon be forgotten.

Of course, one of the biggest reasons for the show’s success was its supremely skilled and gifted cast. Tim Conway, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence are some of the most talented people ever to grace the screen. However, the person who made the show work and arguably why the clips continue to make people laugh today is Carol, a comedic legend.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Carol returns home from a shopping outing and is particularly excited about her recent purchase. However, she has no idea what it is as it’s referred to as a mystery box. As Carol walks in the door, she is met by her younger sister, played by Vicki Lawrence.

Carol and Vicki quickly tear open the box and rifle through the container, hoping to reveal its contents. But what they find is something neither of them expected. Carol has just purchased a literal ball and chain.

To make matters worse, Vicki straps the chain around Carol’s ankle, and there appears to be no key in sight. Carol must quickly improvise a solution to avoid being found out by her husband, played by Harvey Korman.

This clip is yet another example of the comedic genius of Carol Burnett.

Job 8:21 “The time will come when your mouth will be full of laughing, and cries of joy will come from your lips.”
