A young man’s awe-inspiring country performance earned him a surprise Golden Buzzer. He delivered a powerful rendition, showcasing his beautiful voice, much to the delight of the judges and the studio audience. Check out the video to listen to and watch the Golden Buzzer-winning audition.

Shows like American Idol, America’s Got Talent and The Voice remain popular despite being on television for decades, as with American Idol. There have been so many winners of American Idol over the years that it’s hard to keep track of them all. But people still love to watch and hear previously undiscovered talent.

The programs consistently capture such a massive audience that they’ve even been exported to other countries. And why not, right? If a show is popular in one country, why wouldn’t the same format and proceedings work in another, similar country?

In a clip posted on YouTube, one young man, a 29-year-old hairdresser Christopher King, appeared on Ireland’s Got Talent to show the judges and the studio audience his musical talent. He mentioned that despite his love of singing, his family would likely be quite surprised at his appearance on the program. He didn’t tell any of them he was auditioning.

After a quick back-and-forth with the judges, Christopher explains that he will sing a country song, Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” After that young man walked on stage, hearing his accent and talking a little about himself, most people probably would have never guessed that he’d sing a country song.

Despite his surprising choice, he wowed the judges and the studio audience. His voice is beautiful, comparable to something you’d hear on the radio. It takes only seconds, mere notes into the song to realize that he has a ton of talent.

When it comes time for the judges to share their thoughts and feelings, they are beyond complimentary. However, they did mention that despite his excellent audition, he appeared to be noticeably nervous.

But before the judges can even vote, the show’s host surprisingly walks out on stage and slams the Golden Buzzer for Christopher. He immediately bursts into tears as golden confetti rains down on the stage.
