Grandmother’s Surprising and Uplifting Outlook in the Face of Loss
One grandmother shared her surprising and uplifting outlook in the face of loss. Her words and thoughts are a dramatic change from what most people would say and think after they have just experienced such a massive loss. Watch the video to hear the woman’s words and outlook.
This world has been wrecked and ruined by sin. Because of what sin has brought about, we live in an utterly broken and lost place. Of course, this means we will face trials and difficulties. Life is not easy, and we were never promised that it would be. No one will be able to escape hardships. They have a way of finding everyone at one time or another.
While avoiding trying and adverse situations is impossible, how we respond to them is completely and entirely up to us. How we react and bounce back from unfortunate circumstances is arguably the most important part of the ordeal. Our attitude and actions in those difficulties can serve as a witness to others. People are always watching and will see if our attitudes and actions match our words.
In a clip posted on social media, a woman who had just lost everything in a wildfire had quite an unexpected reaction. Instead of being down and broken up about what she had lost, which would have been completely understandable, she expressed different thoughts and had a different perspective.
“Oh, I’m going to be changing my life and simplifying it because I don’t need all this stuff,” she said. “I know it’s not important, and so, I’m going to think about what I buy, what I eat; everything will be thought out.”
Later in the clip, she mentioned that while this doesn’t mean she will stop having fun in life. However, she will start thinking a lot more about her purchases and whether she needs that item.
The video’s caption mentions that the elderly woman lost her house and two rental properties, which were her source of income, in the California wildfires.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give praise: for this is the purpose of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

A Prayer for the Anniversary of the Loss of a Loved One - Your Daily Prayer - May 14
Whether death for us comes first or the rapture happens, we will see our loved ones again. And this is the hope that keeps me going every day. Sure, my mom isn’t with me right now; however, Jesus is with me, and He is with her too.
