Kindhearted Man Frees Struggling Kangaroo Caught in Fence
It was one of those days when the sky stretched wide, a canopy to a beautiful day in the great outdoors. It is the kind of day where you half expect God to leave fingerprints in the clouds. And maybe He did, right there on the tangled fence as a kindhearted man frees a struggling kangaroo caught in a fence.
The man saw her from a distance at first. Her legs thrashed against the wire, her eyes wide with a mix of terror and exhaustion. Kangaroos are strong–wildly strong. Everyone knows their kicks can shatter bones, their strength an untamed force of nature. But there she was, caught in a fenceline she couldn’t escape.
And isn’t that so much of life? We get tangled in things we never saw coming, caught up in snares we didn’t even know were set.
The man wearing a bright orange jacket stepped closer to the wild animal and knew he needed to help. With a pair of wire cutters in hand, he knew the risk he was about to take but the risk outweighed the potential tragedy for this wild creature. He knew one wrong move, one startled kick from her could have a terrible outcome for himself. But something inside him said this was his moment to show kindness, choose courage, and to be God’s hands in this moment.
He knelt slowly, likely speaking to her in a calm voice as he stroked her fur and went to work cutting the wires one by one. With each clip of the wire, he worked methodically, careful not to startle her. Her breathing was heavy, her body trembling. First, one leg, then the other. Then came the difficulty of getting her head untangled as well. The last wire fell away, and for a moment, she didn’t move. She lay there dazed and confused before she finally understood she was truly free.
That kangaroo leaping into freedom is a reminder that no act of kindness is ever wasted. When we step into the small, sacred moments, we reflect the heart of a God who frees the captives and sets the broken world right again.
Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."
