It’s often said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” That seems to be the thinking many in Hollywood adhere to and follow very closely. Many films that make their way into theaters are superhero films, sequels or both. Even many of those released directly on popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ are superhero movies, sequels or both.

Movies require millions and millions of dollars to produce, and film studios hope to recoup and make money from their investments. Turning out movies that have worked well in the past is one of the best ways to lessen the uncertainty that comes with producing films. So, that’s likely a big reason why we’ve gotten a sequel to 2022’s “The Bad Guys.”

In the trailer posted on YouTube, the entire gang has returned for more fun and adventure in “The Bad Guys 2.” The sequel picks up five years after their last adventure. Everyone is now trying to walk on the straight and narrow path, but as the trailer hilariously makes clear, some don’t buy it.

As revealed about halfway through the clip, those suspicions are proven entirely correct. The gang is coaxed and prodded back into their old ways. They have one last job to pull off, but this one likely will not be easy. However, there’s sure to be a lot of laughs and fun along the way.

“The Bad Guys 2” features the voices of Sam Rockwell, Craig Robinson, and Awkwafina. The animated film is currently scheduled to be released in the summer and hit theaters on August 1, 2025.
