‘Sound Of Hope: The Story Of Possum Trot’ Official Trailer

The official trailer for the moving and emotional new film “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot” has been released.

Children are some of society's most innocent and vulnerable members. Every child deserves to be with someone who will love, protect and care for them. Children need to be in a home where they feel safe and secure. Every child deserves a family, biological or adopted; it does not matter.

The family, created by God, is the most important element in society. It’s a setting designed to provide love and safety to every member. When the family unit starts to break down, society follows.

From the same studio behind “Sound of Freedom” comes a new film, “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum.” The movie tells how a church in Possum Trot, Texas—a small town in the eastern part of the Lone Star State – provided permanent, loving homes for nearly 80 children who were in the foster care system.  According to IMDB, 22 families opened their homes and arms to 77 children.

The tear-jerking and gut-wrenching trailer opens with a young lady arriving at a possible adoptive home and asking her case worker, “Are you sure these people want us?”

The next couple of scenes in the trailer are somewhat difficult to watch. Children are subjected to horrible, awful treatment. The woman leading a discussion shows photos of children who have been physically abused.

She announces to the people in the room how badly the children in the foster/adoption system have been treated.

“It’s hard to feel like I’m the only one who sees these things,” she says. “Seventy percent of the kids in the system are there because of neglect. The other 30 percent are put through hell.”

The trailer then shows the church’s pastor behind the pulpit telling his congregation, "If we can’t wrap our arms around the most vulnerable, then what do we have? Noise! And the children can’t take the noise anymore.”

Near the end of the trailer, one man says. “We want the ones that nobody else want.”

“Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot” opens in theaters on July 4. It is rated PG-13 for “thematic material involving child abuse, some violence, language and brief suggestive material.”

Matthew 18:6 “But whoever is a cause of trouble to one of these little ones who have faith in me, it would be better for him to have a great stone fixed to his neck, and to come to his end in the deep sea.”

To welcome people, as Jesus does, is to reach out to the people we would rather not associate with – the people who don’t belong to our friend group or our inner circle. Do you find this easy or hard to do?
