Zero Deductions, Maximum Laughs in Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman’s Hilarious Tax Sketch
There are zero deductions but maximum laughs in this classic and hilarious Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman skit about taxes. These two comedic legends keep the laughs going as they play off one another. This sketch will have you belly laughing from beginning to end.
Christmas is, without question, the most enjoyable period of the year. That is not a controversial statement in the slightest. It’s full of friends, family, gifts and delectable food. What could be better than that? Seriously, no other season can compete with the Christmas season.
However, while Christmas is beloved by many, other seasons aren’t so much. For instance, tax season will likely rank very low for most individuals. There is simply nothing fun or even remotely enjoyable about giving Uncle Sam a healthy portion of hard-earned money. But regardless, it’s something that has to be done.
Paying taxes is an obligation that could put people on edge and cause them to become angry and upset much quicker than usual. That is what happens in a hysterical sketch from The Carol Burnett Show featuring Carol and Harvey.
In the skit, Carol and Harvey play a married couple, and both understand that it’s that special, stress-inducing time of year: tax season. Harvey is diligently working to square away his and Carol’s taxes for the year.
Carol and her younger sister, played by Vicki Lawrence, understand that Harvey needs peace and quiet. However, as the hilarious clip makes clear, understanding and actually doing something are two very different things. Carol and her little sister are constantly doing something noisily that quickly gets on the nerves of a very stressed and worried Harvey.
Both Harvey and Carol end up shouting at one another. Eventually, Harvey is able to find some solitude while completing his taxes, as a blanket is thrown on top of him, shielding him from the distractions of the outside world.
Proverbs 17:22 “A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry.”
