Father-Son Duet To Frank Sinatra's “Me And My Shadow”

Father-Son Duet To Frank Sinatra's “Me And My Shadow”

Check out this A-dorable father-son duet as they sing along to Frank Sinatra’s “Me and My Shadow!” It’s a modern-day dad and his boy having a great time crooning to the 1962 classic sung by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.!

The cute twosome is from Kent, England, hence the right-hand driver’s seat. While enjoying a lovely drive, Matthew Clayton and his 6-year-old son Archie break into a song, as captured by Matt’s dash-cam.

Father and son have similar coloring and eyes, but their smiles are quite different—Archie’s is missing a few chompers in front! It is apparent that this is not their first attempt at this song. In fact, Archie is a big fan of Mr. Sinatra. “I really like Frank Sinatra. There are no other singers I like as much.”

Observe at 25 seconds when Matt takes notice of his son, who has just delivered a few words with extra gusto. He is tickled by his precious son, and so are we! The two sing most of the song together, but there are a few times when they take different parts.

If it seems Matt is more than your average karaoke singer, he is. A salesman by trade, he also sings in a swing band called Our Way and is affiliated with the Dover Operatic and Dramatic Society. It’s clear that Archie is similarly talented. He may not have his dad's big voice, but he belts out the words and adds pizzazz and styling just as his idol always did. He nails it on “sky” and “surprise” at about 1:30, and does it again at 2:00 on “roar” and “more.” This young man is killing it!

As they finish, Archie carrying out the last note for a good, long time, Dad asked for a high-five from his son. Archie has to empty his fisted paw before he can offer his hand, but it is a joyful moment for the two of them, as well as all of us tuning in!

There are probably some lines in the song that Archie does not understand. In particular, he may not comprehend “We're closer than Bobby is to J.F.K.” However, he does understand that he is loved by an awesome dad. What more does a kid need to know!

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4
