'My Country Tis Of Thee' Home Free A Cappella Performance

'My Country Tis Of Thee' Home Free A Cappella Performance

The five men of Home Free honor our country with a breathtaking performance of ‘My Country ‘Tis Of Thee.’ This patriotic tune was by Samuel Francis Smith in 1831. It features the same tune as the national anthem of the United Kingdom, ‘God Save Our Queen.’ In fact, ‘My Country ‘Tis Of Thee’ was the unofficial anthem of the United States before ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ was given the title in 1931.

Hundreds of years later, this song is still one that fills up with pride for our great nation. And when you hear those unmistakable first lines, you just cannot help but sing along.

“My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;”

Home Free is an American a cappella group that competed and won in the fourth season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2013. The members of the group are Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance. They’ve become viral sensations with their covers of hit songs such as ‘Ring Of Fire’ and ‘How Great Thou Art.’

Today, the men are at the meadowlands of Deadwood, South Dakota for a stunning performance of ‘My Country ‘Tis Of Thee.’

Just listen as they belt out these iconic lyrics against a beautiful backdrop of God’s creation.

“Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From ev'ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!”

Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”
