Protect this friendship at all costs. 🥺 (🎥: @twin2mk)

It is always entertaining to watch animals interact with babies. In this video, a zookeeper on maternity leave introduces her new baby to a gorilla.

As the sweet young zookeeper holds her little baby, she sits down at the glass to introduce her gorilla friend to her newborn. As she sits there rocking her baby, the gorilla becomes intrigued.

The gorilla begins to walk over to get closer to the glass and see the baby. The gorilla sits and turns towards the baby. Then, the woman moved a little so the gorilla got a great view of the face of this sweet child. It is a very amazing moment where the wild meets our everyday world.

I love how the zookeeper is calm and slow in her approach. She does not force the gorilla to see her baby but gives an invitation.

She does not have to say a word to communicate what she is trying to accomplish. This woman knows how to move slowly and patiently with the gorilla as she introduces her little one. Not everyone in the world has a close relationship with a gorilla. This is a very unique circumstance.

However, many of us do have pets or know a close family member with a pet. This zookeeper’s method of a slow approach and protected reveal of her new baby is helpful to anyone introducing a newborn to an animal friend.

The zoo keeper’s method reminds us of how God approaches us in gentleness. I think of the baby Jesus being introduced to the world. The Lord does not force belief in Him, but He gently reveals His great love for us and this all started at the manger.

"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:11-12
