Ashley Campbell Sings ‘Remembering’ For Late Dad Glen Campbell
The daughter of the late and legendary country music singer-songwriter Glen Campbell performed a moving song she wrote for him prior to his passing.
Death, illness and disease are horrible parts of life. They devastate and wreck families. In nearly every instance, families watch, while still loving and caring for their family members, as they slowly waste away. This is one of the most excruciating parts of life, witnessing someone you deeply love become weaker and weaker. Not being able to do something to help or ease their pain is unbearable.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Ashley Campbell plays “Remembering.” It’s an original song of hers, which she wrote while her father was still alive. As she explains, it was something for him before his battle with Alzheimer’s had progressed too far.
“This is a song that I wrote for my dad when I first moved to Nashville,” Ashley said. “Because, at the time, he was not fully in the late stages of Alzheimer’s yet, so he still knew who I was. But being very familiar with the disease, I knew a time was coming where he wouldn’t be able to recognize me anymore. “
She added that she hoped the song created a bond and evoked memories for when he did reach those late stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
“So, I wanted to write something that would be comforting to him, and also that would maybe be able to reach him emotionally when words couldn’t,” she said.
Ashley’s song for her late father is a tear-jerker for sure. It’s evident from the opening lyrics that the song is very personal for her. She sings that her father doesn’t have to worry because “she’ll do the remembering.”
At the conclusion of her performance, the studio audience gives the young woman a hearty and well-deserved round of applause.
Ashley said her tune about her father is her way of saying, “I’ve got your back, Dad. No matter what.”
Psalm 103:13 “As a father has pity on his children, so the Lord has pity on his worshippers.”
