Marriage is a beautiful thing, as everyone who is married will surely say. It’s one of the best things anyone can do, granted it’s with the right person, and God is at the center of it. However, no marriage is perfect, and anyone who says theirs is flawless or has no shortcomings is either incredibly naïve or lying to themselves and you.

Human beings are imperfect, fallen creatures. So, how in the world could our relationships with one another be perfect? They can’t and aren’t, and that even includes marriages. Now, like every other relationship, there will be the occasional heated disagreements and fights. No two people see eye-to-eye on every subject and topic, and that includes your spouse.

But when these marital disagreements do occur, what matters is how we respond to and handle them. During an argument, one way husbands often respond is to go silent. Wives have most assuredly spotted this, which likely only infuriates them further.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a husband explained to his wife why men do this. He stated that men do this because they are thinking. Specifically, they are considering the three options available to them during an argument – none of them end with the husband on the winning side.

“Option one is telling you the truth, and that lands you on the couch a 100 percent of the time,” he said. “Me on the couch. So, that’s the wrong option. Option two is to tell you what you want to hear, and now the problem with that is I have no idea what you want to hear. ‘Cause I don’t think you even know what you want to hear. So, that’s a no-go.”

However, he goes on and mentions the third option, which doesn’t sound any better than the first two.

“And the third is just to use logic and tell you a logical answer. But then I get the words, ‘Why are you being so defensive?’ or, you know, something like that. You turn the question back around on me and make it something it’s not.”
