Learning How to Drive in the Midwest
All drivers should know, understand and closely adhere to the rules of the road, especially when it comes to the Midwest. Learning how to drive in the Midwest is a totally different experience from anywhere else in the country. Watch the short but hysterical clip to see what it’s like to take driver’s ed in the Midwest.
Driving is not a right but is instead a privilege, as the saying goes. Just because people reach a certain age, they are not automatically awarded a learner’s permit and then later a driver’s license. Drivers, regardless of state or region, must pass a series of tests. This only makes sense. Who in their right mind would want someone on the road who has no idea how to operate a vehicle? They could easily kill themselves or somebody else.
Now, anyone who has a driver’s license understands the hurdles they must clear to become a driver in their state. They must pass a written test and a driving test. They test one’s knowledge and driving proficiency. If a potential driver comes up short on either one, they will not be issued a license. So, it’s best to study up and get plenty of practice in before those big tests.
In a clip posted on YouTube, a driving instructor runs a student through a series of driving tests and maneuvers while, at the same time, dispensing invaluable road knowledge. However, the information the teacher drops will likely not apply anywhere else in the country. Instead, this knowledge is Midwest specific and it’s absolutely hysterical.
“Every car that passes, you got to wave, OK?” the instructor informs the student.
When the student asks about changing lanes, he’s told he must roll down his window and ask his fellow drivers for permission. After obtaining their OK, he then switches lanes.
Every rule of the road is more hilarious than the next, but the funniest one that I was completely unaware of involves a popular fast-food restaurant.
“You passed two Culver’s,” the instructor says. “We do not ever pass three Culver’s.”
Proverbs 17:22 “A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry.”
