Sadie Robertson Huff shared her approach to the hate she receives on social media. Social media platforms can be and often are used for good purposes. They allow people to stay connected and share good news about their lives. Additionally, social media sites can be used to post encouraging and uplifting messages and to raise money for worthwhile causes and for people in need. So, good things do happen on places like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
However, we all know that, more often than not, people use those popular sites, for whatever reason, in a negative way. Profane, hateful and even racist and sexist comments and posts are in abundance in those popular online destinations. Why use something like Facebook or X (formerly Twitter) to try to hurt and bring someone down? That type of activity never ever made sense to me, and it never will.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Sadie told John how she chooses to respond to and view the hate she receives on social media. She singled out a comment that she has received many times before after posting a video of her preaching.
“I preached this message on as me and my house we will serve the Lord,” she said. “And the first comment on Instagram, ‘If you really want to be obedient to the Word, sit down and shut up because you’re a woman.’ So, I get that a lot.”
She added that she has gotten that same type of comment for a decade now. But she refuses to let that keep her from sharing the gospel.
“At the end of the day, I don’t know why God would open these doors, and then say, ‘Don’t walk in them.’ And for me, seeing a woman preach when I was 17 made me see how God could use me in this story.”
John 15:18 “If you are hated by the world, keep in mind that I was hated by the world before you.”
