A comedian explains why artificial intelligence doesn’t scare him. The funnyman, Don McMillian, does not believe that generative artificial intelligence is coming for his job, at least not at this point. Technology is constantly improving and advancing. Nearly every day, we read or hear about the latest and greatest thing in the world of technology. It will completely revolutionize and change how we do this or that, we are told every single time. Sometimes that’s correct, but more often than not, those predictions prove to be completely false and incorrect.

Now, the latest technological advancements are the leaps and bounds that have been made in artificial intelligence. There are a handful of systems that can produce this or that within seconds, and in many cases, can do so rather cheaply. Understandably, this has many worried, leading them to wonder whether their jobs are in danger and fear that artificial intelligence will replace them.

While a lot of people have this completely understandable concern, Don is not one of them. In a clip posted on YouTube, the comedian puts AI’s joke-writing skills up against his own, and, at least at this point, it’s not really much of a competition.

The joke that AI produced specifically about Ohio is pretty lame. Sure, it might make you snicker and even smile, but it’s a pretty forgettable joke, as Don correctly points out to his audience. He then proceeds to share a couple of jokes that he came up with about the Midwestern state, and it’s clear that there is no competition.

Things may soon change, and AI could be the comedians in a matter of years, but at least at this point, the humans are still telling the jokes and entertaining audiences.
