She speaks of hoping that her love may be recycled and put back on earth after she dies. She came up with the melody while walking home with bags of groceries, and came up with the lyrics while looking up at the moon. 

“I was thinking, I wish this love in me that is temporary could go up to the eternal moon and keep shining down with it,” she said, adding that the “mine” lyrics come from the realization that love is the one true thing that she has. “There’s a cost to everything except for love,” Mitski said.

The four young women performing this chilling cover have made a wonderful ode to Mitski through this song.
