John Crist Tackles an Important Topic Everyone’s Been Avoiding

John Crist has tackled an important topic that everyone has been avoiding. The popular comedian has finally brought up something that urgently needs to be discussed. Watch the short but hilarious clip to hear what the subject is that has needed to be talked about for some time now.

Thanks to the ever-growing, pervasive nature of social media and 24-hour “news” channels, it’s nearly impossible to discuss even remotely contentious, hot-button issues. Instead of staying on topic and having a real, substantive discussion, it always devolves into screaming, yelling and name-calling. Since those sad, embarrassing and fruitless displays of “discussion” and “dialogue” are what get views and clicks, that’s what we’ll continue to be served.

So, when and how does it stop? How do we get back to something that resembles civil discussion? What do we do when our elected leaders are too busy posting on social media and calling each other this and that instead of actually doing their jobs and discussing important topics? Well, it’s well past time to look elsewhere for substantive discussion on important, pressing subjects.

In a video posted on social media, John raises an important topic that many seem too afraid to even mention. Of course, I’m talking about sitting on the end of the row at church and then being asked to move into the row to make room for others who arrive late. This ask comes even after arriving early to claim those specific end-row seats.

John added that this kind of procedure happens at his comedy shows, and he makes a statement that has always gone through my mind whenever asked to do this.

“I go, ‘Well, at some point, we’re punishing the people that are here,’” he said. “They got here on time. At what point do we have to make adjustments for people that didn’t follow the rules?”

As it is said in the video, this practice and ask is doing nothing but “punishing the punctual.”

Job 8:21 “The time will come when your mouth will be full of laughing, and cries of joy will come from your lips.”
