It’s super exciting to see the options and offerings in wholesome and Christian viewing are growing all the time, and Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters is bound to pull at the heartstrings of daddies, their girls, and families, in general! It might just teach us all a lotta something, too!
Based on the 2017 book Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know by Dr. Meg Meeker, the movie tells the story of a dad, who is facing the challenges of raising his girls, each at different ages and distinctly different stages of growth.
Dad Steve loves the daughters that he shares with wife Connie with his entire being, and this is one happy family. But, as Steve’s little ladies begin to make decisions that aren’t part of Steve’s plan and exhibit behaviors that are no longer sweet and innocent, he has a hard time handling it! Who hasn’t been there! It’s a tough time for parents, and perhaps especially for Type A fathers.
Steve enjoys friendly family soccer games and tuck-ins at bedtime, but he’s not comfortable with a surprise engagement by his business school graduate and the angst of his 16-year-old teen, who, as Connie reminds him, “is still cooking.” The changes have rocked his world! But, with the advice of a friend, the wisdom of a good book, and Godly guidance, he learns to let go, give up control, and trust in God’s plan for his daughters—realizing that the beauties he’s raised and is raising really are God’s children all along.
