'Break Free' Official Music Video From David Phelps

Check out the official music video from David Phelps for his song ‘Break Free.’

“Forget what you've heard about Jesus, if it doesn't begin and end with love
Did you know that you are the reason, He decided that He had to come?
He doesn't care about what's in your past, so whatever it is that's holding you back
Break free, break free, loose the chains that have held you tight
Break free, break free, cleanse all your shame in love's healing tide
Of mercy, sweet mercy, break free”

What a wonderful song! This music video was filmed at the Alabama Theatre, and the video excerpt was taken from the live concert filming of No More Night: David Phelps Live! in Birmingham.

David Phelps grew up in Tomball, Texas singing in church with his family. He was able to grow his love of music through the years by performing as a solo artist at churches and conventions. During his music career, he had the opportunity to join the Gaither Vocal Band, and this group brought him four Dove Awards, two Grammy Awards, and over 13 gold and 15 platinum-selling projects.

David then followed his dream of releasing a solo album that expressed his own style. That dream came to fruition with his album titled Revelation, which the song ‘Break Free’ is part of.

The styles on the album Revelation range from pop/rock to R&B to Latin, and it spans the gamut of David Phelps’ early influences. “I was raised in a very eclectic household, listening to a lot of different musical styles; and I learned to appreciate them all. I grew up when contemporary Christian music was coming into its own. I listened to Sandi Patty, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant and the Gaither Vocal Band (with Michael English). I also listened to rock bands like Journey and REO Speedwagon. My exposure to those varying styles has affected who I am and the music I enjoy performing.”

When talking about his solo album, David shares: “We know no truth outside the universe and eternity other than what God makes known, and that encompasses this entire project. Each song on Revelation tells of something God has revealed to me.” But, according to Phelps, it’s the first line in the song “Break Free” that really sums up the project as a whole and the message he hopes to convey: “Forget what you’ve heard about Jesus if it doesn’t begin and end with love.”
