Team USA’s Michael Jackson Artists Swimming Routine Earns Bronze

A group of athletically gifted women competing on the world stage captured a bronze medal with their stunning routine.

To be an athlete competing at the highest level possible requires massive amounts of determination and dedication. Athletes put in hours and hours of meticulous and intense practice working on their craft, going over and fine-tuning every detail. Most put their blood, sweat and tears into reaching their goal.

A clip posted on YouTube shows a group of female athletes reacting during the moment when all their hard work, dogged practice and extreme dedication paid off in a big way.

In the video, Team USA prepares to enter the pool during the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. The women are competing in the artistic swimming event.

As the commentators point out, there was a lot riding on this routine from the United States. Spain and Italy had already secured their medals. Whether the USA would qualify for a medal or not rested on their competency in their upcoming routine. 

However, before they enter the swimming pool, a memorable and classic song starts, Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” Once they enter the pool, the athletes come together in a big way, stunning one of the commentators right from the get-go.

In the opening seconds of the routine, the group of women lifts one member several feet up out of the pool.

“Such high risk,” one commentator states. “Incredible balance.”

From that point forward, the women, in complete synchronicity, pull off what is essentially a dance number while underwater. There is even a point when the women are upside down, with their feet and legs sticking out of the water. Their movements are timed perfectly. No one ever misses a step. 

After pulling off their intense and demanding routine, the women must sit and wait for a minute or two. But when their final scores are revealed, which results in a bronze medal, it is pure joy and happiness!
