Kaya Steps Out Of Famous Dad’s Shadow To Earn Her Ticket To Hollywood - Audition Videos

One young woman, looking to forge her identity and pathway apart from her famous musician father, scored a ticket to Hollywood on American Idol. 

Art is about trial and error, figuring out what works and what doesn’t. This is especially true for musicians. Sometimes a word needs to be changed there, a verse needs added here or a guitar chord has to be changed slightly. Nevertheless, musicians must find what works for them, their skillset and their talent level. 

Kaya Stewart is the daughter of Dave Stewart, who was in the group The Eurythmics and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 22-year-old appeared on American Idol with her famous father, who played the guitar for his daughter as she sang an original song of hers.

Very early in the performance, it’s clear that she’s not someone who just walked in off the street with no musical knowledge and had never sang before. Her voice is unique and she knows how to use it. Additionally, her songwriting ability is outstanding as her original sounds like something that would play well on pop radio right now.

Additionally, Kaya did not seem to be phased at all by singing in front of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan – all three massive figures in the world of music today. She’s calm, cool and collected. 

The young woman was terrific!

All three judges also loved her performance.

“Yeah, I thought it was great and looking forward to potentially hearing more stuff that you’ve written,” Luke said.

In the end, all three judges gave Kaya yes votes and sent her on to the next round of the competition.

Whether she made it or not, the young woman deserves credit for even coming on the show and auditioning, doing something her own. She could have easily used her famous dad and his connections to help her land a record deal.
