Woman’s Perfect Parody Song for Parents Who Say ‘Not My Child’

Comedy and parody are great tools to shine a light on the oddities, absurdities and wrongs in society. One woman has put her singing and songwriting abilities to use in order to bring to light some of what teachers deal with daily.

An Atlanta woman, who goes by the name indesKribeaBull on TikTok, is getting a lot of attention and praise for a parody song she wrote about parents of students to the tune of Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.”

Instead of an unfaithful boyfriend, indesKribeaBull’s song is “Not My Child” and it’s about teachers responding to parents who use that phrase. The hilarious parody gets right to the heart of the matter. The opening lyrics respond to a parent who wants to know why their child is failing in a particular class.

“Right now, he’s dozing off in class
And he ignores it every single time I tell him pay attention”

Next, the woman adds that the child’s list of offenses in the classroom includes “texting on a phone he didn’t purchase” and the student's inability to turn in homework.

While the lyrics are hysterical, the visuals work to make the video even funnier!

The woman in the short video has made a “guitar.” She strums along on her instrument as she sings the ingenious parody for parents who want to know why their child is failing in class.

The comments on the video are overwhelmingly positive, praising the song and the woman’s singing ability.

“This actually slaps you’re singing voice is incredible,” one person commented

A second person wrote, “Ma’am your voice is perfection. Also your lyrics are hilarious.”

A third person confirmed the accuracy of the scenario the song and video painted. “This is so entirely accurate coming from a high school teacher in the south.”

Luke 6:40 “The disciple is not above his teacher: but everyone, when he is perfected, shall be as his teacher.”
