One of The Voice’s Oldest Contestants Wows Judges - Audition Videos

People have the uncanny ability to surprise us. Much like what 1 Samuel 16:7 states "man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” One contestant on The Voice blew the judges and the audience away with his talent and then had them all shedding tears.

During the blind audition portion of The Voice Australia, Conrad De Silva stepped onto the darkened stage hoping to impress the judges. Conrad then proceeded to give a powerhouse performance of Nat King Cole’s classic “L-O-V-E.”

Conrad’s energetic and spot-on singing had the audience impressed and cheering right from the start. It was clear they loved what they were hearing. While none of them turned their chairs around for Conrad, several judges admitted to loving his rendition of the Nat King Cole hit.

But as the judges were getting to know Conrad a bit after his performance, they learned one big surprising fact about him. Conrad is 80 years old!

“Oh my gosh!” one of the male judges responds to the news.

“Are you kidding?” another judge states. 

Before he took the stage, Conrad was informed that he was the oldest contestant in The Voice history. 

A bit later, Conrad makes it clear whom his performance was intended for: his wife of 50 years.

Despite her initial hesitation, Conrad’s wife joins him on stage. Conrad professes his continued and sustained love for his wife in front of the judges and the studio audience.

“You have made my life so, so happy. I’m still hoping that God will keep us together for the next 10 years,” Conrad says.

There wasn't a dry eye in the entire studio!

Conrad then slips a ring signifying 50 years of marriage on his wife’s finger. 

What a talented singer! Also, what a beautiful example of a happy, loving couple!
