Family Band Performs “Where The Soul Of Man Never Dies”

Take a break from the chaos of the day, and enjoy this beautiful rendering of a classic hymn as  The Brandenberger Family (and Friends) perform “Where The Soul of Man Never Dies.” Written by William Matthew Golden during his 8-year stint in prison, the story reminds listeners of the hope of Heaven, where sorrows are no more.

Copyrighted over 100 years ago in 1914, the hymn has been recorded by several artists, including: Ricky Skaggs and Tony Rice, The Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, and others. But, here sitting in a tight circle between the kitchen and family area of a modern-day home, 11 members of The Brandenberger Family play and sing the song of reassurance.

Here are a few lines from William Golden’s song:

To Canaan's land, I'm on my way
Where the soul of man never dies
My darkest night will turn to day
Where the soul of man never dies

While folding chairs and instrument cases are scattered about the space, there is no hi-tech equipment. These musicians, most in their sock feet, know their parts to perfection. They don’t need a fancy studio to create praise-worthy harmonies. In addition to the outstanding vocals, eight individuals play stringed instruments, including a double bass, guitars, a mandolin, a banjo, and a fiddle. It really is music for the soul!

The Brandenberger Family (and Friends) share bluegrass videos on their YouTube Channel, which has 29.5 thousand subscribers. Notice the comments from appreciative listeners. They come from all over the world: France, Norway, Ireland, England, Switzerland, and more.

There are so many things to love about this video. First is the amazing quality of music in a genre that is not considered to be “mainstream.” There’s the sweet sight and impact of a family sharing time and talent in a common space—and enjoying it! Of course, and most importantly, is the praise and worship of God, The Brandenberger Family inviting all of us to join them!

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” James 5:13
