Young Elvis-Lookalike Sings ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’

A young man who looks very similar to Elvis Presley gave a stellar vocal performance when he belted out the lyrics of a classic from the legendary Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.

Most of the music produced today and even over the years is garbage. Sure, a pop or country song may come on the radio with a toe-tapping beat and some catchy lyrics, but give that exact song a couple of years. Then go back and listen to it. The odds are good that the tune will likely seem terribly cheesy or downright awful, but probably both. A limited number of songs, bands and singers can stand the test of time, going on to become classics.

One song from a beloved duo that has shown it has staying power and is most certainly a classic is Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” In a clip posted on YouTube, singer Elliot James Reay, dressed very much like the King of Rock and Roll, covers the iconic song from the 1970s.

“Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down”

The young man gives a stunning performance, showing off his spectacular voice while singing the beautiful lyrics about a deep, committed friendship. He reaches for and hits all the right notes, making for a thoroughly enjoyable cover.

It’s likely that people who enjoyed the original from Mr. Simon and Mr. Garfunkel will appreciate Elliot’s take on the song. He doesn’t change much, if anything, from the original. Instead, he uses his God-given talent to sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” At times, with a cover of a song, that’s all you really need, and Elliot delivers here.

In addition to Elliot’s pleasant cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic, the video also gives viewers a look at a beautiful sunrise over, what is likely, Los Angeles.

Psalm 104:33 “I will make songs to the Lord all my life; I will make melody to my God while I have my being.”
