A young woman, with her stunning and show-stopping performance during the blind audition on The Voice, managed to get all four judges to flip their chairs around for her.
Many people who audition on shows like American Idol and The Voice are tremendously talented individuals. They have already been equipped with the tools and the skill set to become a working musician. However, a lot of them are still diamonds in the rough. They will need a lot more work, coaching and mentorship to get them to the next level.
But that does not appear to be the case with Laura Williams, a 20-year-old aspiring singer from Pennsylvania, according to several of the judges on The Voice. In fact, a couple of them mentioned that it would be important to not “overcoach” her, believing she is already that good.
Laura gets mere seconds into her audition, singing Lauren Spencer Smith’s “Fingers Crossed,” when two judges – Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani – flip their chairs around. Later in her audition, John Legend and Reba McEntire are convinced, slamming their buttons to flip their chairs toward the young woman.
The tone of her voice and the control she possesses are outstanding. The judges are stunned by the singer.
Gwen Stefani kicks things off by claiming that Laura is “one of the best” she’s heard.
Reba indicated that Laura is a musical prodigy. Laura has a voice and talent from God himself, Reba claims.
“All I would do now is enhance or try to enhance what you already have, which I’m going to call a God-given gift,” Reba said. “He did you a big old favor when He gave that to you.”
What is even more impressive and almost unbelievable is that Laura mentions that audition on The Voice was her “first gig.” Understandably, none of the judges can believe that.
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
