Judge Gwen Fights For Lila Forde After Her ‘Old Soul’ Blind Audition
One young woman’s dazzling and inspired blind audition on The Voice was enough for Gwen Stefani to leave her chair and state she was “fighting” to get her on her team.
Beauty can come from anywhere and everywhere. It also comes in many shapes and sizes. The good Lord blessed us all with plenty of examples of beauty in this world. Mountain ranges, the vast, seemingly endless oceans and the star-filled night skies immediately come to mind when thinking of beauty.
But the judges on The Voice were treated to another, unexpected form of beauty when musician Lila Forde opened her mouth and began singing “Can’t Find My Way Home” on the popular program. Her voice is so unique, different and beautiful that all four judges turned their chairs seconds into her audition.
Following Lila’s audition, Gwen exited her chair, stating she was “freaking fighting right now” to convince the young musician to join her team. Gwen, standing barefoot in the middle of the stage, showered the musician with compliments.
“This is what the world needs,” Gwen said. “We want a singer-songwriter with a true point of view that’s original, unique. That’s not trying to be like anyone else, and the way you performed it, the confidence is everything that I love.”
Gwen ended her impassioned pitch to Lila by saying working with her would be a dream come true for her.
“But you’re my dream voice girl to work with,” she said. “I love you. I love you.”
After Gwen, John Legend and Reba McEntire gave the young woman their best pitch, complimenting her performance and singing technique. Reba also called Lila an “old soul,” saying that her singing and musical ability show she is “mature beyond” her years.
However, in the end, Gwen’s “fighting” for Lila was all in vain. The young woman who sounded like Joni Mitchell selected John Legend as her coach.
Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
