‘The Brink of War’ Trailer Depicts High-Stakes Meeting Between Reagan and Gorbachev
The trailer for “The Brink of War” depicts a high-stakes meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. This pulse-pounding historical thriller will surely keep you on the edge of your seat. Watch the short but stirring clip to get a look at the upcoming film, “The Brink of War.”
Politics is a subject that most people avoid at all costs during polite conversation. Especially in today’s divisive and polarizing times, discussing politics with just about anyone is likely to end in a shouting match and with raised blood pressure. Everyone has an opinion and seems to consider themselves an expert on every subject imaginable, and wants to be heard.
Because politics is so divisive and not something most people want to discuss face-to-face, all the political and policy experts (heavy sarcasm) gather on social media platforms to argue and make their voices heard. Nevertheless, while most people are uncomfortable discussing politics, what elected officials and world leaders do and say does matter and most certainly impacts our lives.
Nowhere is this more noticeable than during negotiations with the leaders of other countries. Having someone calm, levelheaded, rational and well-versed on the issues in those meetings and negotiations is of the utmost importance.
“The Brink of War” is a film about the 1986 Reykjavík Summit, a meeting between U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev. Of course, the historic meeting took place during the middle of the Cold War, when tensions between the two countries were at an all-time high.
The film features an absolute all-star cast, with Jeff Daniels as President Reagan and Jared Harris playing his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Gorbachev. Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons plays George Schultz, Reagan’s Secretary of State. Rounding out the cast is Hope Davis, who plays Nancy Reagan.
The film, which hits theaters on August 14, is rated PG for “language, thematic elements and smoking.”
Titus 3:9 “But have nothing to do with foolish questionings, and lists of generations and fights and arguments about the law; for they are of no profit and foolish.”
