Lucas West Dazzles with Paul McCartney's 'Maybe I'm Amazed'

College student Lucas West dazzles with Paul McCartney's “Maybe I'm Amazed” on an episode of The Voice. Not only can he sing, but he can also really hammer it out on the piano, too. He’s "amazed"—and amazing. Play the video to see him do his thing!

The 20-year-old student has got the kind of sound that would have been absolutely perfect for a 90s Disney movie. Actually, he almost sounds a little like “Tarzan’s” Phil Collins.

Lucas is no doubt full of talent. He has a diverse voice that can sing different genres. He could fit into pop, rock—you name it. He’s a star.

Lucas West's "Maybe I’m Amazed" cover will feel reminiscent for any Paul McCartney fan. Some of the beginning lyrics Lucas sings are:

Maybe I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time
And maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time
You hung me on a line

Paul McCartney Wrote “Maybe I’m Amazed” for His Wife, Linda

Paul wrote the song in 1969 for his wife, Linda McCartney. It was his way of thanking her for her support during The Beatles’ split. More than any Beatles’ song, Paul McCartney wants to be known for “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

He was married to Linda for 29 years, until she died in 1998 of breast cancer.

He recalled of her death, “I think I cried for about a year on and off. You expect to see them walk in, this person you love, because you are so used to them,” he said.

“I cried a lot. It was almost embarrassing except it seemed the only thing to do,” he added

Lucas West’s "Maybe I’m Amazed" cover highlights the beauty and devotion of the song. It’s a beautiful song that a lot of people can relate to when it comes to our loved ones.
