Mike Goodwin’s Hilarious Encounter With a 'Part-Time' Christian
Mike Goodwin had a hilarious encounter with a “part-time” Christian. The popular funnyman recalled a hysterical run-in with someone who professed to be a Christian, but whose actions told a completely different story. Watch the short but laugh-out-loud funny clip to hear how Mike’s interaction with a part-time Christian went.
People can call themselves whatever they want, and a lot of times, as you’ve probably already learned, they do. But simply because somebody refers to themselves as this or that doesn’t necessarily make it true. In fact, I would argue that anyone who has to tell others they are a certain thing is doing so because it’s not accurate. Not only are they trying to convince others, but they are also trying to fool themselves into believing it, too.
Actions and attitudes speak much louder than words. How you treat and act toward someone is telling, and people are always watching to see whether your actions match what you profess to be true. So, if you call yourself a Christian, it’s probably a good idea to act like one, and not just on Sunday morning, but throughout the rest of the week.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Mike encountered someone from his church who clearly identified as a Christian. However, hilariously and sadly, Mike learned that this person’s Christianity seemed more like a part-time thing. It was obviously a façade, meant to fool themselves and others.
“I called this woman from my church,” he said. “I didn’t realize it at the time, but I found out that she was a part-time Christian. Yeah, and apparently, I called her on her day off.”
Mike said the woman answered the phone with “an attitude” and some rather colorful, profane language.
As soon as Mike identified himself as someone who attended her church, her demeanor and language completely changed. If we call ourselves something, it’s a good idea to make sure our actions and attitudes match that title.
Job 8:21 “The time will come when your mouth will be full of laughing, and cries of joy will come from your lips.”
