Mike Goodwin Explains How His Parenting Style Is Different from His Dad’s

Mike Goodwin explained how his parenting style is different from his dad’s. The popular comedian and father of two mentioned that how he was raised is very different from how he is raising his youngsters. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear how Mike’s father would not have ever been described as a “fun dad.”

Every parent will say, without a doubt, that children are the biggest and greatest blessing anyone can receive on Earth. Every child is a gift from above, and all should be treated as such. Nothing compares to raising little ones; there is simply no experience like it.

However, every mother and father will agree, without reservation, that raising children is the most difficult and challenging task anyone undertakes. No child arrives with an instruction manual or a how-to guide. Every child is different, making much of parenting a trial-and-error process.

Just as no two children are the same, the same can be said for every parent. No mother and father will see and handle the same situation in the same way. Some parents may be stricter, while others may be a little more lenient, allowing for leeway here and there. In a clip posted on YouTube, Mike shared that he and his father have dramatically different parenting styles.

“And I got to remember to be ‘fun dad,’ “ he said. “I got to remember to be ‘fun dad’ because I wasn’t raised by a fun dad. No. No. No, indeed. I was raised by Osama bin Laden dad. Oh, man, my dad was terrorism at its finest, man. My dad played no games.”

Later in the clip, Mike mentioned that he had a stutter as a young man, and his father helped him overcome it very quickly.

“When I was a kid, I used to stutter,” he added. “Used to stutter. I shouldn’t even be up here right now. My dad looked at me one day and said, ‘Stop stuttering.’ I was like, ‘Ok.’”

He also said that his father was not a fan of crying, and so he and his brother developed some pretty hilarious techniques to keep the tears from flowing.
