This Is the Unofficial Test Southerners Use to Judge a Restaurant
This is the unofficial test Southerners use to judge a restaurant. If a restaurant meets all these lofty standards and qualifications, well, then you’re in for a good meal, at least according to this woman. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear some of this woman’s unofficial test that Southerners use to decide if a meal from a restaurant will be good or not.
Everyone loves eating and filling their stomach with delicious, mouth-watering food. Americans, especially, are big on chowing down and enjoying a meal whenever possible. Now, while every region in the United States of America has its own food culture, the South’s is hard to defeat.
Apparently, Southerners know food, and given their extensive and delicious lineup, it’s hard to argue otherwise. No one is passing on biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, gumbo, BBQ, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, peach cobbler or banana pudding. I’m sure I’m missing some beloved Southern food staples, but it’s hard to top any of those. Just thinking of any of those dishes is bound to get your stomach growling.
So, when someone from the South says that this or that restaurant is likely to be good, it might be a good idea to listen to them. A clip posted on YouTube shows how a Southerner might make this determination, and they consider a variety of factors when reaching their conclusion, and it all happens even before their order arrives.
“If I can’t smell grease from the parking lot, we’re leaving,” she said.
“If the menu is laminated and slightly sticky, that is a green flag,” she added.
“If the waitress calls me ‘baby,’ and refills my sweet tea without asking, I’m leaving a 40 percent tip,” the woman said.
“I don’t trust no menu that ain’t got typos,” she concluded.
These are only a handful of the hilarious factors mentioned in the clip that help determine whether a restaurant is likely to live up to a Southerner’s high standards.
Proverbs 17:22 “A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry.”
