Jonnie W. Remembers His First Car—and All of Its Unique Charm

Jonnie W. remembered his first car and all of its charm. The popular comedian shared a little bit about his first set of wheels and some of the vehicle’s unique features. Getting a driver’s license is a big step in every person’s life. Becoming a licensed driver is something every teenager looks forward to with much anticipation and excitement. It’s a symbol of maturity and freedom: with that license, we can go anywhere and everywhere whenever we want. No longer do we have to wait on someone else to drive us here or there.

However, as you likely already know, just being legally licensed to drive in your state is only half the equation. That person, who has acquired a license from their state, still needs a vehicle. Those, as you likely know as well, can be hard to come by, especially for a teenager with limited funds.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Jonnie explained why he still remembers the first car he ever had, and what made it so memorable and unique. What he says about his car might even sound familiar to your first set of wheels, too.

“My first car was a 1973 Buick Electra,” he said. “Yeah, mint green. This wasn’t the 70s, y’all, either. It was the 90s, not cool. Big old fins on it. We called it ‘The Ark’ because you could fit two of every living thing in it. A massive car.”

Later in the clip, he mentioned that the car’s dashboard would frequently light up, indicating a problem with his vehicle, but he came up with a hysterical solution.

“I was like, ‘I could never afford to get all this stuff fixed,’” he added. “So, I just got some black tape, covered up them lights.”
