Nate Bargatze on the Most Nerve-Wrecking Part of Hosting SNL

Nate Bargatze shared what he believed to be the most nerve-wracking part of Saturday Night Live. The popular comedian shared his thoughts on hosting the iconic, long-running sketch comedy program and which part of the hosting duties made him sweat the most. Watch the short but insightful clip to listen to Nate discuss SNL and why this one part of hosting the show was so terrifying.

Nate Bargatze is one of the biggest names in comedy. In fact, I would argue that he is, in fact, currently the most popular, biggest draw in all of comedy. Over the last couple of years, he has exploded in popularity. He has sold out arenas all around the country, has two hysterical Netflix specials, his own game show on ABC, an incredibly popular podcast, has written a best-selling book and has written and starred in a major motion picture.

However, despite all of his success, when it came to hosting SNL, there was one aspect that caused the funnyman a lot of anxiety.  In a clip posted on YouTube, during his appearance on the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” podcast, he discussed how SNL is different than anything he’s ever done.

“I was the most nervous about the monologue,” he said. “Because I was like, ‘That has to go good.’ That’s what I’m supposed to be good at.”

When it came to preparing for his opening monologue, Dax mentioned that Nate had actually started performing at small comedy clubs around New York. It was a way for him to replicate the environment in which he would be doing his monologue on Saturday Night Live.

Despite his worries about the monologue, Nate did not have the same fear when it came to performing in the show’s many skits.

“I thought it would be fine because it’s live performing,” he said. “I was like, ‘I think I’ll do fine in it.’ And then we got lucky with the George Washington sketch to be like, it goes crazy and all of that.”

Philippians 4:6 “Have no cares, but in everything with prayer and praise put your requests before God.”
