Brandon Lake, Nick Jonas 'The Author' Powerful Live Performance

Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas turned in a powerful live performance of their song, “The Author.” Two of the most talented musicians in the entertainment world wowed with their lovely tune about the Lord, His faithfulness, mercy and grace. As the old adage goes, no one is perfect (so how does practice supposedly make perfect then?). No human being is without their flaws, failures and blemishes. We have all been marred by sin. The Bible, in Romans, makes this point abundantly clear when it states that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

However, that does not have to be the end. We don’t have to continue living in our sin and shame. The very next verse in Romans, 3:24, gives hope to sinners, to all. “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is Jesus Christ.” Regardless of what we’ve done and how far we’ve fallen, we can be forgiven and made new. God can bring beauty from a pile of ashes and infuse hope into a seemingly hopeless situation.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Brandon and Nick perform their song “The Author” before what appears to be a packed, sold-out stadium. The song is, of course, about what the Lord is willing and able to do. He never stops chasing after us, never stops offering His grace if we simply turn back to Him. He is faithful and quick to forgive.

So, who am I?

Who am I to question the pen in the hands of the Author?”

As the song mentions, so many people are searching and chasing after something temporary, but despite our sin or willful disobedience, He never stops calling and offering his grace and forgiveness. All we must do is accept it.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said to me, ‘My grace is enough for you, for my power is made complete in what is feeble.’ Most gladly, then, will I take pride in my feeble body, so that the power of Christ may be on me.”
