Jonnie W.’s Take on Misheard Worship Lyrics Is Comedy Gold
Jonnie W.’s take on misheard worship lyrics is comedy gold. The popular funnyman will have you rolling with laughter with his bit on church tunes with hard-to-decipher lyrics. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear which song had him confused and the lyrics he added in its place.
Musicians are a special, talented group of people. They have been blessed by God with the ability to produce beautiful, pleasant sounds. Those are gifts that benefit everyone. I mean, who doesn’t enjoy listening to music? Not liking or appreciating music is similar to not enjoying food. How is that possible?
Anyway, when it comes to musicians, there are many different skills. Of course, singing and playing an instrument are the ones that immediately come to mind. However, before a singer, pianist, or guitarist can go on stage and perform, a song and its accompanying lyrics must first be written. Often, these lyrics are crystal clear, easily picked up by everyone who hears the tune.
But there are other instances in which a song’s lyrics are confusing and difficult to decipher. We’ve all been there before and can likely name a handful of songs that we still aren’t sure about what they are saying. In a clip posted on YouTube, Jonnie recalls a time when he was more than a little confused and lost about the lyrics of a worship song. Instead of being silent and not singing, he decided to add his own lyrics.
“And so, I was in a church about six months ago, and they were doing a brand-new song at the time,” he said. “And now I know how it goes. It goes, ‘He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree.’”
But at the time, he didn’t hear those lyrics. So, he created his own words to this unfamiliar song.
“But that’s not what I heard,” he added. “And so, what I sang was, ‘He is Muhammad Ali, floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee.’”
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
