She Befriended Her 86-Year-Old Neighbor. Now, They're Family

Julissa Gomez is 29 years old, and she decided to be open to an unlikely friendship. She befriended her 86-year-old neighbor named Delmar. Julissa and her family learned that Delmar was living by himself and invited him to church with them. After that simple invitation, Delmar spent a lot of time with her and her family. They are seen in clips dancing in a living room, eating donuts and ice cream, and playing putt-putt golf. 

What started as a neighbor became more like a family member. Julissa and Delmar celebrate life events and holidays together. On top of it all, they have written a children’s book called “The Friendships Next Door with Delmar” to inspire others. The two of them share videos constantly to encourage others to be friends. There is a current video of Delmar surprising Julissa’s husband at his graduation.
