105-Year-Old Navy Veteran Celebrates Birthday Like a Daredevil
A 105-year-old Navy veteran celebrated his birthday by packing his special day with adventure and thrills. Spurgeon “Butch” Carlson decided to go skydiving for the first time to celebrate turning 105, and his family and friends cheered him on. What a way to bring in a new year!
The birthday boy checked off this adventurous bucket list item with a tandem jump in Albion, New York. “I’m not nervous. I’m not shaking or anything,” Butch shared when asked about his skydiving excursion. “I’m looking forward to that jump!”
Now this 105-year-old Navy veteran is not new to adventure. Last year for his 104th birthday, Butch did his first ever horseback ride with his little brother who was 99 years old at the time. Nothing seems to be slowing down this fun-loving guy anytime soon!
When speaking with Butch’s daughter, Mickey McAvoy, she shared that her dad’s skydiving adventure shocked her. “I didn’t think he would dare, but he says he’s going to do it – ‘I can do it, I can do it,’” Mickey said.
How Butch Is Inspiring Others
Many people online who saw the video of Butch skydiving were inspired to see him living life to the fullest. “Honestly, what’s the worst that could happen lol,” someone wrote. “Glad he’s living at the edge to celebrate his long life!”
