Jaw-Dropping A Cappella Cover of Billy Joel's 'The Longest Time'

Jaw-dropping a cappella cover of Billy Joel's “The Longest Time” is stunning. The six-member all-male group does an incredible job with the classic song. Play the video to hear it for yourself. 

Chris Bandy’s group’s a cappella cover of "The Longest Time" was performed to mark the 10-year anniversary of his viral video. 

“Ten years ago, some of the guys from our church choir mentioned that they wanted to sing ‘The Longest Time’ for fun. I said that my dad had a recording studio, and so we could record it! And so we got together for four hours and practiced it and recorded it,” Chris said. 

“Three years later, in May 2019, the video went viral on YouTube, and now it has almost 6 million views. I reached out to the guys back in November to see if they wanted to do a ten-year reunion. Everyone was down for it, and we met in the same room and re-recorded it,” he said. “It is finally here. Enjoy!”  

"The Longest Time" a cappella cover is so lovely and peaceful. Each man has a beautiful, gentle voice, and they all blend together beautifully. The way they sing is so soothing as well.

Some of the lyrics to “The Longest Time” are:

The group’s version of the 1983 doo-wop sounds very similar to Billy's but shows much more variety in its vocal range, even though Billy had a wide vocal range himself. The song was almost a solo a cappella by Billy, but he did include one instrument with his finger-snapping. 

This group’s cover of the song is a wonderful tribute to the original.
