1 Man Performs A Cappella Rendition Of 'Near The Cross'

Check out this impressive video of one man performing an a cappella rendition of the hymn ‘Near The Cross.’

Jesus, keep me near the cross, there a precious fountain;
Free to all, a healing stream flows from Calv'ry's mountain.
In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever,
Till my ransomed soul shall find rest beyond the river.”

What a wonderful video! The hymn ‘Near the Cross’ that is being performed in this video was written by Fanny Crosby, who was the author of over 8,500 gospel songs. She wrote the lyrics and William Howard Doane composed the music. The hymn was published in 1869. ‘Near the Cross’ continues to be one of Fanny Crosby's most famous hymns, and it has been transcribed into numerous languages, including German, Russian, Haitian Creole, and Spanish.

The man who is singing in this video is Michael Eldridge, and he is extremely talented. He sings the bass, lead, tenor, and alto parts in this song, and he does them all so beautifully. And when he blends all the different parts together, the song sounds so full and complete. The music and his vocals are just so soothing and lovely to listen to.

“Another wonderful old hymn that touches the heart! I love the tempo! Great job, keep it up!” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video.

“What a blessing you give us through your music!” another person writes online.

Michael is a pharmacist by trade, but he uses his passion for singing to glorify God and encourage those around him. May he continue to use his gifts to shine a light into this world!

Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.”
