'Near The Cross' Jamey Johnson And Ricky Skaggs At The Grand Ole Opry

Marvel in God’s amazing grace as country greats Ricky Skaggs and Jamey Johnson perform the classic hymn ‘Near The Cross.’

“Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain—
Free to all, a healing stream—
Flows from Calv’ry’s mountain.”

For decades, Ricky has been a staple in the country music world. He started his career as a member of the Clinch Mountain Boys and quickly made a name for himself as a solo singer. In fact, in 1982, he became the youngest inducted member of the Grand Ole Opry at the time.

From songs such as ‘Country Boy’ and ‘Cajun Moon,’ Ricky has cemented himself as one of the greatest names to ever grace the Opry stage.

Today, he’s joined on stage by fellow country artist Jamey Johnson for an amazing performance of ‘Near The Cross.’

“In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river.
Near the cross I’ll watch and wait, hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand, just beyond the river.”

This country hymn truly resonated with hearts all over the world. One viewer said, “Beautiful! Ricky is my all time favorite musician!  Jamey has a great voice too.”

Another wrote, “Priceless!  What epic talent and words to live by!”

What a blessing to hear these two talented artists lead us in praise for our King!

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.”
