'Promised Land' TobyMac Official Music Video
The official music video by TobyMac for his hit single 'Promised Land' has a powerful message that’ll fill your eyes with tears and lift them toward Heaven in prayer.
Promised Land was shot in a West Virginia coal mine, and in it, TobyMac portrays a hard-working miner who's down on his luck and seems at the end of his rope.
The video is dramatically shot in black and white to highlight the darkness in the mine and the heaviness that the miner’s heart struggles to overcome. The miner walks slowly as though each step is an effort. And yet, as health issues and the loss of a great love threaten to pull the miner’s spirit down, we see him continuously turn to his faith.
I won’t give up on this race
Broken but I still have faith
That this old life is all part of a plan
And I can feel it in my soul, one day I’ll stand before the throne
TobyMac shared that the inspiration for the video was from his own family’s roots. His own grandfather was a miner who died from coal workers' pneumoconiosis (CWP), otherwise known as black lung. The disease happens after prolonged breathing of coal dust, which scars the lungs and makes it difficult to breathe.
He said that he always thought his family “must wonder, ‘Where is my promised land?’” because they surely didn’t experience it here on earth
TobyMac shared that his hope in sharing this very personal song is, “ that God will use the song to turn people's eyes towards Him. Before every song I write, I pray before we record and ask God to breathe something through me."
“We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” - 2 Corinthians 4:8

Today's Devotional
A Prayer to Help You Comfort Others - Your Daily Prayer - April 25
Have you ever wondered if there is any purpose in your suffering? We certainly don’t go looking for suffering—it comes to us because life is a journey through difficulties and triumphs. Sufferings are a reminder of what Jesus Christ went through and it is a way for us to encourage others.
