Hilarious Tim Conway Sketch Reminds Us Never To Let Him Fix A Violin
Tim Conway was a master of comedy, providing audiences with reasons to laugh themselves silly for decades. His skill in comedy was on full display time and again on The Carol Burnett Show.
In one classic skit from the beloved show, Tim plays a handyman of sorts with his own shop. The sketch begins with a bit of foreshadowing as a sign that reads, “Mr. Fixit: If it can be broked, it can be fixed” is prominently featured.
Seconds later, Harvey Korman, who plays a pretentious, uptight, world-class violinist, enters the establishment. Harvey’s character, with his thick German accent, explains that he needs his busted violin repaired immediately.
Tim’s character takes possession of the ancient and precious violin, but his lackadaisical attitude and manner give the famous violinist reason for concern. Tim, talking with his famous customer, continually slams the violin on the counter and the wall!
Soon enough, Tim’s character takes the violin in the backroom of his shop and gets to work. After a lightning-quick diagnosis, Tim explains to Harvey’s character that he has to cut on the instrument.
Next, we see Tim using a mammoth saw to the violin. He also loudly hammers away. He even uses a blowtorch! This, as you may have guessed, does not sit well with his foreign customer.
At one point, Tim begins to break character! At around the 4:50-minute mark of the clip, Tim starts smiling at Harvey.
The violin, amazingly, is fixed. Despite the constant noise, the plethora of unnecessary tools and the customer's agitated state, the instrument is good as new.
But as we quickly see, things are too good to be true!
The clip is a hilarious reminder of the absolute talent and skill that made up the cast of The Carol Burnett Show.
Luke 6:21 “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”
