Fisherman From The Philippines Amazes With ‘When A Man Loves A Woman’ Audition

One young man stunned the studio audience and the judges with his beautiful and powerful rendition of a Michael Bolton hit on America’s Got Talent. 

People who go on and audition for shows like American Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent deserve respect and credit no matter the outcome. It requires guts and overcoming fears of failure and inadequacy. That is something to be commended and applauded. 

Roland Abante, a fisherman and a delivery driver from the Philippines, dreamt of being on America’s Got Talent and showing his musical talent in front of the world. Despite his nerves and the fact that he needed an interpreter in order to communicate with the judges, Roland stunned everyone with his magnificent performance. 

Roland may have been nervous during his back-and-forth with the judges, but “When a Man Loves a Woman” starts playing, his apprehension melts away. It’s incredible to see, but as soon as the first few notes of the song begin, he eases into the track, snapping along. 

The young man from the Philippines then belts out the first few lyrics and surprises everyone, including Simon Cowell. Simon wasn’t the only one thrown for a loop. The camera catches a young lady with her mouth wide open, amazed at Roland’s incredible voice.

Even before his audition is over, Roland has the audience on their feet applauding. It’s a beautiful sight to see!

He only gains more and more confidence as the song continues, it’s very apparent. By the end of his performance, Roland has the entire room on its feet, giving him a well-deserved standing ovation.

The judges voiced their surprise and amazement at Roland’s awe-inspiring audition. All four judges give the aspiring singer compliment after compliment. Howie Mandel went so far as to call Roland’s audition a “life-changing moment.”

When it comes to voting, Roland receives four very emphatic yes votes. He is moving on to the next round!
