Youngsters were stunned by a woman’s unexpected generosity and kindness. The two young men could not believe their good fortune when a woman gave them quite a tip. Unfortunately, the world we live in is often a sad, lonely and cold place. Many people seem to be able to treat one another with a surprising amount of hatred and cruelty. Don’t believe me? Minutes after logging into popular social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Instagram, you’re likely to find some of the most profane, cold-hearted and vile things you’ve ever encountered.
Our world suffers from an incredible shortage of kindness, love and generosity. Often, people seem only concerned about themselves – everyone from our elected officials to our coworkers. So, when someone does something with the well-being of others in mind, it can be surprising and a bit jarring. Those acts and surprises also help restore our faith in humanity, even for just a little while.
A clip posted on social media captures one of those special, unexpected moments when someone shows kindness and love to someone. The video is of two young men selling cookies to a middle-aged woman. She quickly looks through their baked goods for sale and eventually settles on three bags of cookies.
After making her decision, the woman hands one of the young men some money and tells them to “keep the change.” Both young men cannot believe what she has just done.
“Thank you!” they both respond.
Their excitement continued as they left the front porch. They could be heard talking about the large tip for quite some time.
“Did that just happen?” one of them asks.
Later, before the clip ends, one hilariously mentions that they are now financially well off.
“Oh my gosh!” one child says. “We’re rich!”
We never know how much a simple act of kindness and love will impact someone.
Galatians 6:10 “So then, as we have the chance, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the family of the faith.”
