This Father’s Take on Life With Kids Will Have You Laughing Out Loud

This father’s take on life with kids will have you laughing out loud. There are moments in parenting that test a man’s character. Real, soul-searching, what-am-I-even-doing-here kind of moments.

Like when you step on a rogue Cheerio barefoot at 6 a.m. and just keep walking because you're numb to the pain now. Or when your toddler stages a full-blown revolution against pants, and the baby’s wailing because someone looked at her bunny wrong.  If you haven’t seen Dillon White’s latest TikTok video, do yourself a favor and go watch it. Pause your laundry, sip your lukewarm coffee, and prepare to laugh until you cry.

This dad, who’s known online as @dadchats, is not just a lawyer and screenwriter—he’s a modern-day philosopher of parenting chaos. In his latest post, titled ‘Small Talk Once You Become a Parent of Multiple Kids’ will leave you laughing as he lets us into the hilarious trenches of fatherhood with a story that’s equal parts IKEA meltdown and Disney-level imagination.

It starts with him building an IKEA bench. Easy, right? Six and a half hours later, he's emotionally fragile, questioning his worth as a man, and halfway convinced there’s a piece missing. Spoiler: there isn’t. But what is missing? Sanity. The instructions made no sense, the Allen wrench might be cursed, and the bench… well… doesn’t look like the picture. So naturally, his family named it Sven. Because if it took almost a full workday to assemble and still leans a little to the left, it deserves a name and a little dignity. Here’s the kicker: now his kids feed the bench carrots, while singing ‘Reindeers are better than people.’

Then Dillon pivots like a comedy ninja and starts listing all the “shows” he and his family are binge-watching. Spoiler: No adult content in sight.  When someone asks if he saw the game, Dillon launches into a description of Chutes and Ladders. Yes, the board game, not adult sports like football or basketball.

This man is not watching the playoffs. He’s surviving preschool play-by-play with a side of snack negotiations. Meanwhile, his poor wife is still stuck on Season 6 of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’—not because she doesn’t want to finish, but because their TV has been hijacked by pint-sized tyrants who rule the remote.

Dillion’s Humor is the kind of funny that hits you right between your tired eyes and makes you laugh because you've lived it too. He doesn’t glamorize parenthood. He invites you into the chaos, names the bench, and hands you a carrot.

Because that’s what we do in this season—we survive on grace, giggles, and a good sense of humor.

And Sven? Sven is a crooked reminder that love doesn’t always look like the picture… but it’s real, and it’s ours. Even in the mess, even when the bench is wobbly and the kids are wild—there’s laughter. There’s love. There’s God right in the middle of it all, holding it together better than any Allen wrench ever could.

Go find Dillon’s video on TikTok and give him a follow—you won’t regret it. But maybe hide your Allen wrenches first, just in case.
