The two comedy legends could not keep it together, making for a classic, iconic skit that will keep you laughing from beginning to end. The Carol Burnett Show is a legendary television program. It is, without a doubt, one of the best, most beloved shows of all time. Due mainly to its all-star cast of Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway and Carol Burnett, it’s a show that never gets old. No matter how many times you watch those skits, they are never not funny.

However, as great and off-the-wall as many of those skits were, the best ones will always be when the cast breaks character. Of course, this often occurred when Harvey and Tim were in skits together. Usually, all Tim had to do to send Harvey into a fit of laughter was to look at him. There were other instances, but not nearly as many, when other castmates broke character.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Harvey and Carol play a royal couple who are approached by their loud, whiny, demanding daughter, played by Vicki. The daughter informs her parents that she has found the man she wants to marry, who happens to be Tim. Neither Carol nor Harvey is thrilled with this development. Carol, Harvey and Vicki’s characters are members of the royal family, and Tim, playing a low-level, hollowed-out military member, is not.

They go back and forth, figuring out how this relationship and marriage ceremony will proceed. As they do so, there are tons of laughs all around. Harvey very noticeably breaks character after Tim approaches and looks at him.

However, the biggest break in character belongs to Carol and Tim, who both have trouble keeping it together near the end of the skit.

This is yet another reason why The Carol Burnett Show is and always will be considered a comedy classic.
